- Hi all...
-
- I recently sent in my "very mint" condition PC288LCD to be upgraded to V.34...
- Well, I got back a "VERY" beat-up modem with a sticker placed over what used to
- say "V.FC"...I know of several other people who received brand new modems that
- were stamped with V.34...Anyone know why some got old upgraded ones and others
- new ones? We all paid the 50 bucks...
-
-
- The main reason I am posting is to find out an init string that will enable my
- PPI V.34 to actually WORK on the internet...I'm using WIN95 and have selected
- the modem manually since the system can't determine which modem I have (comes
- up "standard modem") I have installed a new MDMPP.INF file from PPI and
- re-installed the modem, but it appears that something is not quite right. I get
- connected at 28.8 every time and get logged in, but netscape and mail just sit
- there trying to communicate...I have tried the old string I used to use before
- I upgraded to V.34, but it works no better. I have even tried cutting the speed
- down as low as 24000, but it makes no difference. If anyone has a modem like
- mine (used-upgraded one vs. a new V.34...or maybe it makes no difference...)
- please let me know what you are doing differently, and possibly whether ot not
- WIN95 detects your modem correctly...
-
- Thanks!!
